Climb & Fly

Walter Neser is a paragliding test pilot who lead a small team of three (he and Tristan are both South African) to the desert village of Rum where tall multi-pitch walls offer extraordinary climbing in outlandish settings. The main objective was to utilize Apco's new hybrid mini wing to fly off the tops rather than the need to rappel the routes (or walk off the back, navigating the maze of gullies).

A hybrid paragliding wing combines double-skin leading edge and single-skin trailing edge technology fused with lightweight fabric to make a stable yet exceptionally light (2.8kg) and packable wing. This allows climbers and hikers to carry it in an exceptionally compact and light configuration.
