Extraordinarily beautiful in its desolation vibe. This is true desert area and the climbing is reminiscent of Rum, Utah in its feel.

A small section of Kings Canyon has thus far been developed for climbing with the majority of routes being bolted single pitch routes. There are endless possibilities for trad and sport route development, but be mindful that there are section of poor rock and others which are excellent. Put the effort in and you will be rewarded (and the climbing community will thank you).

A permit is required to enter the canyon (obtainable from Norotshama River Resort) but once in the canyon access is exceptionally easy. The early developments can be climbed from the car bumper, and any new routes are easily approached (loose scree!) on foot in relativly short time.
