The first sector reached from the car park. The sector encompasses 2 different aspects and styles. The shorter, Western aspect is steeper and the longer Northern aspect more technical.
These climbs are reached by walking down the path at the end of the Eastern Buttress directly below the parking area.
POT BOILERFACE AREA
This face of easy rock forms the far western end of the Eastern Buttress. Five routes are located here. For many years this face has been known as “the Pot Boiler area”, and several routes are used for top-roping beginners and teaching leader skills.
Gavin Raubenheimer, for the sake of clarity, has given names and grades to some often-used lines which were not shown in previous guidebooks - i.e. Biltong, Pot Roast and Flash in the Pan. Pot Boiler is the furthest route to the right, and is actually very seldom ever climbed.
