Paarl

Paarl is the largest town in the Cape Winelands area. It's known for its scenic environment, viticulture and granite domes known as Paarl Rocks

The climbing at Paarl is quite diverse in that one can find boulder, sport and trad climbing within 30m of each other. The climbing is mostly varying degrees of slab to gently overhanging, with the anomaly of The Scream boulder. You may find it difficult to persuade local Cape Townians to visit this venue as they are generally all roof climbers who are afraid of slabs. Paarl can provide a real adventurous day out with numerous multi-pitch climbs. Some of the climbing on low angled terrain can be considered 'heady' as the bolts were placed somewhat generously. So be sure to know what style of climbing you're embarking on and bring the right shoes. Paarl has been known to send a strong sport climber home, spanked, with their tail between their legs.

There is a daily entrance fee.
