Access
Permits are required to climb here and can be obtained at capenature.co.za.
Aspect and Weather
Morning sun. Routes get wet when it rains.
Climbing
The routes are generally not of the same standard as the rest of Tafelberg as the rock is weathered and somewhat broken. The wall is divided in four sectors.
Base
The base is fairly comfortable.
Approach
Short and Sweet Buttress:
This buttress of rock is detached from the main massif and a short abseil is needed to get off it. Walk westwards toward the top of the descent gully until stopped by an obvious wide cleft separating you from the Tafelberg massif. A little way to the right (facing out) you will find a stout horn with some tat around it. Abseil from here (20m) to the ground. From the bottom of the abseil follow the gully on the right until a crawl through brings you into the main descent gully. Follow the gully down and on to Spout Cave.
