Skeleton Gorge

Nestled in the forestry above Kirstenbosch Gardens, Skeleton Gorge is a well ventured route with steep steps, ladders and some minor scrambling. The path starts at Cecilia Forest parking lot and continues right to join up onto the Contour path. The first 1-2kms is flat, thereafter things begin to get steeper as you climb steps and approach some wooden ladders closer to the top ! The section after 2kms is shaded within the forest (not bringing some type of warm layer), then opens up onto beach sand surrounding the Hely-Hutchinson Reservoir -a great spot to dip your feet ! There are two ways to do this hike one can continue back down the same ravine or continue left down Nursery Ravine.

Being close to table mountain the weather can be unpredictable with mist often blowing over thus a warm layer is highly suggested. If you are weaker on steep ascent and descent hiking poles might be a helpful addition.
